Irma Thomas named Honorary Muse of Muses Parade
The Soul Queen of New Orleans will lead the Muses parade this year.
Irma Thomas has been announced as the Honorary Muse for the 2023 edition of the Muses Parade.
Muses Captain Staci Rosenberg announced today, the Grammy Award winning, legendary blues and gospel singer.
On Muses’ Thursday evening, February 16th, Thomas will ride aboard the 17-foot tall encrusted red high heel shoe leading the parade.
“We are absolutely thrilled to have Irma Thomas as our 2023 Honorary Muse,” Rosenberg says. “We refer to her as our 'Sole Queen.' She is an inspiration and a role model to all of the Muses."
Ms. Thomas has been performing for over 60 years and continues to be a local favorite and one of the top headliners at the annual New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.
First parading in 2000, the Muses organization now has over 1,400 members. The Krewe of Muses' vision recognizes and incorporates the local artistic and cultural resources of the community, creating Muses Mardi Gras traditions for parade goers and carnival season enthusiasts to enjoy.
