The 2022 NFL season is a long way off, but each team's opponents are set. And the door is open for the Lions to take a significant step forward in year two under Dan Campbell.

The NFL's second worst team this year, Detroit will play five of the other six worst teams in the league, including the Jaguars at home, and eight of the other 11 worst. Meanwhile, it will play just one of the top six teams this year, the division-winning Packers, and just three of the top 13. Detroit gets road dates with the Giants and Jets, the NFL's two worst teams over the last five seasons.

And yes, a lot can change for those teams between now and next season. But the Lions have to like the way things line up in 2022.

The formal schedule won't be released for several months, but here are Detroit's 2022 opponents. Teams in italics are division winners. Teams marked with asterisks will have a new head coach.
