MURRIETA, CA — Just under 1,000 homes and businesses were without power much of the day Monday as SoCal Edison crews worked to improve area lines, officials reported.

On Monday at 8 a.m., crews began a power shutdown south of Murrieta Hot Springs and north of Whitewood Road, a SoCal Edison spokesperson reported. A total of 932 homes were impacted, according to SCE.

The maintenance outage was set to run until 4 p.m. During the majority of the outage, temperatures in Murrieta did not go above 90 degrees, according to Accuweather report.

"The crew turned the power off so they could work safely," a spokesperson said. The outage would continue while the upgrades to the lines were put into place.

Full restoration was expected by 4 p.m.
