Oregon’s 10 ZIP codes with the most new coronavirus cases

OregonLive.com logo OregonLive.com 1/30/2021 Brad Schmidt, oregonlive.com

Oregon reported fewer coronavirus cases last week than at any point since late October, with more declines potentially on the horizon if the trend line continues.

The state recorded 4,119 confirmed or presumed coronavirus infections for the week ending Sunday, Jan. 24, a whopping 48% decrease from the previous week. The drop in new cases significantly outpaced a 10% decline in weekly testing.

Oregon, like the rest of the nation, has seen big drops in cases since the winter peak. New state modeling suggests modest decreases could continue, too, but it’s unclear if more transmissible variants of the virus could turn the tide.

ZIP codes outside the Portland area saw the most new cases last week, with Salem, Eugene, McMinnville, Hermiston, Medford and Corvallis all recording high numbers. Only two metro ZIP codes, one in Portland and one in Wilsonville, cracked the top 10.

The Oregonian/OregonLive is monitoring state coronavirus data, reporting by ZIP code the areas with the greatest weekly changes. Our analysis also highlights the areas with the most new cases in relation to population.
