2018 NFL MVP Patrick Mahomes just found a new reason to be pleased with the front office of the Super Bowl champion Chiefs. The team reportedly agreed to terms with running back DeAndre Washington, a former Mahomes teammate with the Texas Tech Red Raiders.

An excited Mahomes took to Twitter to welcome the former Oakland Raiders running back, who arrives on a one-year deal.

Washington was a depth piece in the Raider backfield after being drafted back in 2016 in the fifth round. In his four seasons to date, he's managed eight touchdowns, and has notched at least 30 receptions in two different campaigns. He was primarily a third-down back in Oakland, and figures to be something of a security blanket for the reigning Super Bowl MVP as a pass-catching option out of the backfield.

When this duo took the field together in college down in Lubbock, Washington dominated. He led the Big 12 by rushing for over 1,400 yards in 2015, reaching the end zone 14 times that season. That same year, Mahomes threw 36 touchdowns and went for over 4,600 yards in just 13 games.

It's safe to say this duo knows how to coexist.

Washington and Mahomes will aim to channel some of that same dominance as the Chiefs get set to defend their Super Bowl title. This reunion between the two former Red Raiders will only help matters.
