A 19-year-old Geore Hankton has died after being shot outside of an apartment complex near Southern University in Baton Rouge Friday night, according to a report from our partners at WBRZ.
WWLTV has confirmed that Hankton is the grandson of prominent New Orleans Mardi Gras Indian Big Chief Tyrone Casby of the Mohawk Indians.
An 18-year-old man was also injured in the shooting at the complex is located just southeast of Southern's main campus. He is currently at the hospital and is listed as being in stable condition.
Police say the incident occurred just after 6 p.m.. The two men were standing in the parking lot of the complex when they were struck by gunfire.
Police have not given any information on a suspect.
