"The Walking Dead" star Khary Payton introduced his 11-year-old transgender son to the online world just moments after the Supreme Court ruled that LGBTQ+ workers are protected from job discrimination by federal law.

On Monday, following the historic 6-3 ruling, the actor posted a Twitter photo of his son, Karter, flashing a thumbs up.

"This my kid. One of the most happy, well-adjusted individuals I've ever known. My son, Karter. Karter with a K because it reminded him of my name. He chose it. You see, he was born female but has always identified as a boy," Khary wrote. "He thought it would be cool if I announced it on social media."

Before making the announcement, Khary explained to his son that some people might not be kind in their responses.

"I told him that there would so many supporters but also a lot of jerks who would be harsh," Khary said.

Karter perfectly responded, "Yeah, I know about trolls, daddy. I can handle trolls."

Not surprisingly, Khary was correct, as many armchair quarterbacks slammed the actor and the transgender boy. But, there were was an avalanche of support, too. Even "Star Wars" legend Mark Hamill showed support.

"He is gonna flip when I show him your reply. Thanks so much," Khary replied.

Morgan Fairchild commented, "Love and hugs to Karter!"

Although the announcement was Karter's idea, Khary acknowledged he felt a sense of catharsis upon writing the post.

"Man, there is nothing more beautiful than watching your child feel the joy of exploring what it means to be true to themselves," the actor wrote. "This is his journey, and I am here for it. I hope you all have the opportunity to feel the unquenchable love that I am feeling right now."
