What we know about search for Kiely Rodni 11 days after her disappearance

The search for missing Truckee teen Kiely Rodni near Prosser Reservoir will scale back as an 11-day search has stalled with no new information.

Placer County Sheriff's Detective Josh Barnhart said that after this week, the agencies working on the case would form a task force to share any new information. The agencies would switch off investigating tips rather than having multiple people working on the case on an ongoing basis.

Kiely, 16, disappeared in the early morning of Aug. 6 after attending a party at the Prosser Family Campgrounds, just outside Truckee, a mountain town 35 miles west of Reno.

Police said there has been no sign of Kiely or her silver 2013 Honda CRV after her phone was last on at 12:33 a.m. Aug. 6. The phone registered near the water but investigators said that does not mean she was last near or in the water.

The investigation included multiple searches at Prosser Reservoir in the water, air and on foot by hundreds of law enforcement agents, including the FBI. Volunteers have also been searching Prosser and nearby Boca and Stampede reservoirs.

Hundreds of missing posters have been hung up in English and Spanish in Reno and around Lake Tahoe.

"Our search continues, and we are doing the best we can on moving things in a positive way," said Nevada County Sheriff's Captain Sam Brown.

"Our goal has never changed from the beginning: to find Kiely Rodni," Brown said.

He encouraged people to look around for anything that could lead to information about the missing honors student, who graduated from a Truckee charter high school in June. Even volunteers searching areas that law enforcement checked could yield different results, he said.

Brown said investigators aren't releasing details on where law enforcement searched other than to say in the areas around where the party was held.

"We don't have a direction or clue of where to go anyway," he said.

Law enforcement has expressed frustration at the lack of viable tips, and that few of the 200-300 people at the party are coming forward with information.

New developments in the search:

  • The reward for information to finding Kiely increased from $50,000 to $75,000 after a $25,000 anonymous donation.
  • The Placer County Sheriff's Office released a picture of a new sweatshirt that Kiely was seen wearing in a new video they received from the campsite party.  This is in addition to another sweatshirt she was lent at the party and a photo taken from a store security camera showing Kiely wearing a black body suit with thin straps.
  • Law enforcement has not released photos from the party or pictures of Kiely at the party, saying it could impact the investigation.
  • A buried dog was found in a shallow grave near Prosser Reservoir last weekend.  Law enforcement closed off the area when the grave was found but said soon after it was not related to the missing teen.
