Biden's Justice Department rushes to run against Donald Trump in the 2024 general election

Polls across the country continue to confirm that Republicans are keen to trade in Donald Trump for Ron DeSantis in the 2024 presidential election. But that isn't stopping the Democrats from dreaming about running against Joe Biden's predecessor.

Not 72 hours after Trump announced that he will try once again to win the White House, Politico and Fox News both reported that Biden's Justice Department is appointing a special prosecutor to "oversee criminal matters related" to Trump.

What criminal matters does Attorney General Merrick Garland forsee, do you ask? Reportedly Trump's supposedly inappropriate handling of classified national security secrets at his Mar-a-Lago estate. Somewhere in a Chappaqua mansion, Hillary Clinton is cackling to herself with sheer schadenfreude.

There is also Trump's campaign to obstruct Biden's victory in the 2020 election.

The problem is not that Trump is purer than the driven snow, but rather that the Biden administration knows exactly what it is doing, both practically and as a matter of optics. Garland's move keeps Trump, whose presidential announcement proved a snoozefest as "low energy" as a Jeb Bush rally, at the top of the headlines at a crucial moment for the conservative movement. Right when Republicans are realizing that Trump is a triple-loser whose victimhood schtick is purely self-serving, Garland is doing everything he can to give Trump fresh ammo to act like he's practically a Christ-figure in his trials and tribulations. Furthermore, the special prosecutor ramps up Trump's personal incentive to win the presidency again. What was purely a vanity project for the 76 year-old is now a legal lifeline, as the courts have repeatedly ruled that presidents are uniquely insulated from criminal convictions.

It is a week after Trump failed in the midterms and DeSantis soared. It has been days since Trump's big speech proved to be boring — something no one has ever accused Trump of being. Biden, who this weekend becomes the first octogenarian ever to occupy the Oval Office, must be terrified of running against the governor who turned Florida into a crimson shade of lava. Is it any wonder that his administration would put the target on Trump's back the moment he needs it the most?
