A billionaire hoping to win the Democratic Party’s nomination for president will be on Hilton Head Island and in Beaufort Monday to meet with voters and discuss issues.

Tom Steyer, who has spent millions advertising in South Carolina, will be at Hilton Head Beach & Tennis Resort from 8:30 to 10 a.m. on Monday for a meet and greet. He will be joined by Rep. Michael Rivers, who represents Beaufort and Colleton counties in the S.C. House of Representatives, and members of the faith community, according to a news release from his campaign.

After his visit to Hilton Head, Steyer is scheduled to hold a luncheon in Beaufort at 11 a.m. with Rivers. The campaign has not released a location for the luncheon yet.

Both events are open to the public.

Steyer is rather well known in South Carolina, and has been recognized by national media for his massive advertising spending here. A Winthrop University poll released Thursday showed Steyer in third place, with support at 15% of those polled.

The New York Times reported in January that Steyer owns “80% of the Facebook political ads reaching voters in South Carolina.”

“It’s part of a campaign buying blitz that has put South Carolina awash in Steyer money as he also blankets the state with millions in advertisements and mailings, making him nearly omnipresent in the state,” the Times reported.

Here’s more information about the upcoming primary and Steyer’s views, according to The State newspaper in Columbia:

When is the primary?

South Carolinians get their chance to weigh in on 2020 elections on Feb. 29, the date set for the state’s first-in-the-South Democratic presidential preference primary.

The S.C. Republican Party’s executive committee voted in September to skip its 2020 presidential primary.
