Brother Vellies Founder Aurora James says she started her company because black artisans were being exploited and that the marketplace needed to change. “Forty percent of black-owned businesses are estimated to have to close their doors because of the pandemic. We see that black culture is largely being pulled and exploited without being properly celebrated or compensated.”
