"This college entry scandal should shock us all, but it doesn't," Rep. Gwen Moore (D-Wis.) wrote on Twitter.

"Just look at the President and his Administration. The working class are held to one standard, while the likes of Ivanka and Jared can be granted security clearance over the objections of intelligence professionals."

Her comments came a day after the U.S. District Attorney's Office in Massachusetts released charging documents in what it called the biggest college admissions "scam ever prosecuted by the Department of Justice (DOJ)."

Federal prosecutors indicted more than 50 people, including celebrities and athletics coaches, with spending or laundering millions of dollars to get high school students admitted into premiere universities such as Stanford, Yale and Georgetown.

Moore in her tweet referenced reports that President Trump's eldest daughter and her husband, who both serve as senior White House advisers, received security clearances despite pushback from top officials in the administration.

Trump ordered White House chief of staff John Kelly to override security concerns of top U.S. officials and grant Kushner a clearance last year, according to a New York Times report from February.

CNN then reported earlier this month that President Trump pressured Kelly to grant Ivanka Trump a security clearance despite concerns from then-White House counsel Donald McGahn.

Ivanka Trump and Kushner were issued permanent security clearances last year. Ivanka Trump said in mid-February that the president had no involvement in their clearances.
