Disingenuous Kamala Harris pretends there should have been a 'stockpile' of vaccine for her and Biden

One of the beauties of being a Democrat is that you can say things that fly in the face of reason while virtually no one in the national media bats an eye.

Vice President Kamala Harris took full advantage of that reality during an interview on Sunday on HBO.

Longtime Washington journalist Mike Allen hurled a fast one at Harris when he asked her what she had found "harder" than expected in dealing with the pandemic.

"There was no stockpile … of vaccines, right?" Harris said. "So, we’re looking at this. There was no national strategy or plan for vaccinations. We were leaving it to states and local leaders to try and figure it out, and so in many ways, we are starting from scratch on something that’s been raging for almost an entire year."

Why, exactly, would Harris have been under the impression that there would be a "stockpile" of vaccine for her and President Biden to start passing out once sworn into office? The point of rushing production and government approval of any vaccine was to push it out quickly for distribution, not to hoard it for Harris and Biden to find after entering the White House.

Imagine what the media would have said if former President Donald Trump had been stockpiling vaccines while thousands of people continued to die each day.

Harris isn't dumb. She knows there is absolutely no reason for there to have been stored vaccines that have only been on the United States market for two months and that every country in the world is trying to distribute to its population as quickly as possible.

To Harris's second point about there being "no national strategy or plan for vaccinations" because "we were leaving it to states and local leaders to try and figure it out," it's as if Democrats are completely ignorant about the purposes of mayors and governors. They exist for precisely these moments, and their job isn't to serve as dead weight. They're supposed to govern their states and cities and, when necessary, ask for additional support at the federal level.

This is actually a fairly large country, and people huddled in Washington, D.C., aren't equipped to parachute into every city and county to fix all of their problems. Again, that's the purpose of mayors and governors.

Lastly, the new administration isn't "starting from scratch." The sainted Dr. Anthony Fauci already denied that claim the last time a White House official tried to make it. If anything, Biden and Harris came into office with a care package nicely wrapped with a bow on top. The vaccines were ready.

But all Biden and Harris have been doing since even before the inauguration is complain that the problem hadn't already been solved for them. Democrats are allowed to do that, though. The media let them.
