Gen. Mark Milley Says Calls To China Were 'Perfectly' Within His Duties Amid Controversy

Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Miley defended his calls to China during the final months of former President Donald Trump's presidency, saying they were "routine" and within his "duties and responsibilities." Milley has come under fire, with some lawmakers calling for his termination, after a new book revealed that the general made calls to Chinese military officials to ensure them that the U.S. wouldn't attack. Milley and U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin are scheduled to testify in front of the Senate Armed Services Committee Sept. 28.
