Iowa Sen. Joni Ernst said Republicans would waste no time trying to impeach Joe Biden if he wins the White House.

“I think this door of impeachable whatever has been opened,” Ernst toldBloomberg News on Sunday. “Joe Biden should be very careful what he’s asking for because, you know, we can have a situation where if it should ever be President Biden, that immediately, people, right the day after he would be elected would be saying, ‘Well, we’re going to impeach him.’”

Ernst, 49, said Biden, 77, would be impeached “for being assigned to take on Ukrainian corruption yet turning a blind eye to Burisma because his son was on the board making over a million dollars a year.”

Biden’s son Hunter, 49, was on the board of the Ukrainian gas company while his father was leading the Obama administration's push to remove prosecutor general Viktor Shokin from office, which has now prompted corruption allegations from President Trump and his allies.

The unverified corruption claims stem from a 2018 video showing the elder Biden bragging about threatening to hold back $1 billion in U.S. loan guarantees if Ukraine did not terminate Shokin from his post. Shokin was removed in 2016 from his position amid international pressure, and has since claimed he was ousted because he was investigating the gas company Hunter Biden worked for and that the elder Biden wanted to protect his son.
