Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle vote to pass Marriage Act
The Senate passed landmark legislation on Tuesday that would codify federal protection for marriages of same-sex and interracial couples. The Respect for Marriage Act was approved 61-to-36 and now returns to the House for a final vote before it can go to President Biden’s desk.
