Leaked White House Memo: Republicans ‘Telling the Truth’ on Biden Family’s Finances
House Republicans led by Oversight Committee Chair James Comer, have come under fire for their probes into the Biden family’s finances, and according to a White House memo are trying to damage his reputation.
According to the said memo, these admissions by the Republican factions mark one of the “rare” moments that they (Republicans) speak the truth.
The White House has denounced the investigations as politically motivated attacks against President Joe Biden, citing Comer’s own comments on Fox News where he linked the investigations to Biden’s poll numbers in 2024.
“Extreme MAGA House Republicans are being caught doing something they rarely do: telling the truth,” says White House spokesman Ian Sams in a document submitted to NBC.
To add foundation to these claims, Comer acknowledged the effect of the probes into Biden’s financial affairs on the current president’s bid for another term in office.
“You look at the polling, and right now Donald Trump is seven points ahead of Joe Biden and trending upward; Joe Biden’s trending downward. And I believe that the media is looking around, scratching their head, and they’re realizing the American people are keeping up with our investigation,” he said in an interview with Fox News.
Comer had stated that it had “moved the needle” despite his earlier assertion that the investigation was non-partisan.
This accusation was likened to a similar incident 2012 where then-House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy linked a House Republican Benghazi investigation to then-presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s declining poll numbers.
Comer’s investigations have so far centered around foreign payments to the Biden family including Hunter and James Biden. Thus far no proof of any payments made directly to the President before or after he left his previous position have been produced, per NBC.
