Former President Barack Obama drew raucous applause at a campaign rally in Pittsburgh on Saturday for Lt. Gov. John Fetterman (D-PA) as he attacked Dr. Mehmet Oz (R-PA) and other Republican candidates.

Fetterman holds a slim lead over Oz in the race for Pennsylvania's open Senate seat, and Obama attacked Oz for not only being a "snake oil man" on television, but also enabling former President Donald Trump's attempts to subvert American democracy.

"John's opponent, he has answers. They're just the wrong ones," Obama told the crowd Saturday, mocking Oz's career as a TV doctor. "You want to lose weight. Take raspberry ketones. Got leg cramps? Try lavender soap. Want to prevent dementia? Palm oil, a miracle solution!"

"Snake oil man. Listen, it's easy to joke about Dr. Oz and all these quack remedies he's pushed on tv, but it matters," the former president continued. "You deserve better than somebody who's just trying to make a quick buck. Somebody willing to say anything to get attention. You deserve somebody who knows you. You deserve somebody who stood side by side with you, somebody who will work every day and fight for you. Somebody who's actually from Pennsylvania, you deserve somebody like John Fetterman."

Throughout his remarks, Obama urged voters to reject the current partisanship on display in national politics. He specifically said the COVID-19 pandemic led to an "erosion of civility," culminating in political violence like the recent attack on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's husband, Paul, in San Francisco.

Obama also specifically criticized the rash of celebrities posting antisemitic content in recent weeks, including Brooklyn Nets guard Kyrie Irving and rapper Kanye West.

Obama also set his sights on Trump, claiming he and his MAGA supporters, like Oz, are "just [making] stuff up" to undercut confidence in U.S. elections.

Obama said that Trump is supporting Oz to place another ally in the Senate, potentially leaving the door open for another attempt to overturn election results in 2024.

"They undercut our democracy," he concluded. "That is at stake in this election."
