Support to oust Trump weakens sharply, Microsoft News Poll finds

As the House of Representatives moves toward a vote today on articles of impeachment against President Trump, support for removing him from office has fallen to its lowest point since the Ukraine scandal first broke, according to the latest Microsoft News Poll.

In our latest daily tracking poll, in response to the question "If the House of Representatives votes to impeach President Trump, would you support or oppose the Senate voting to remove him from office?" only 1 percentage point separates likely voters who support removing Trump (48 percent) and oppose removing him (47 percent). Taking into account the margin of error of plus-or-minus 3 percentage points, it's clear that likely voters are evenly split on the issue.  Support for removing the president has fallen sharply -- 5 percentage points -- in only a week.

The changes picked up steam last week as the House Judiciary Committee debated the two articles of impeachment.
