Taylor Swift is lending her voice to a political ad for the first time, urging young voters to head to the polls to cast their ballots on Election Day.

The 30-year-old Grammy Award-winner's song "Only the Young" is featured as part of an ad released Friday from Rep. Eric Swalwell's (D-Calif.) Remedy PAC.

In the video, scenes from the past nearly four years are shown, with images of Me Too and Black Lives Matter protesters interspersed with President Trump removing his face mask following a hospital stay for COVID-19, Judge Amy Coney Barrett being sworn in as a Supreme Court justice, and a 75-year-old protester in Buffalo being shoved to the ground by police.

Young voters and supporters of Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden are then seen organizing and sporting voting gear, while Swift's track plays in the background, with the lyrics: "Only the young can run."

"You've marched for four years," a message in the ad reads. "Now it's time to run."

The get-out-the-vote message marks the first time that Swift authorized the use of one of her songs for a political spot. "Only the Young" originally appeared in Swift's Netflix documentary, "Miss Americana," released earlier this year. She has said she penned it following the 2018 midterm elections to help disappointed young voters "hopefully stoke some fires politically."

The 30-year-old singer has been a vocal critic of Trump, since breaking her virtually career-long silence on politics during the 2018 midterm elections. Swift tweeted to Trump earlier this year, "We will vote you out in November."

ITK hears that Swalwell is a huge and longtime fan of Swift. After Remedy PAC reached out to Swift's team earlier this week, the performer agreed to the use of "Only the Young" because its message to inspire young voters aligned with the spirit of her song.
