ATLANTA, Ga. (WGXA)- The fight for 51 senate seats should be settled tomorrow in a run-off election in Georgia.

Senator Raphael Warnock and former football star Herschel Walker were campaigning all over the peach state on this final day to woo the voters.

A rematch between democrat senator Raphael Warnock and republican Herschel Walker to decide who gets to go to Washington, since neither candidate won a majority in November.

"I want you to create a real 911 emergency. I want you to vote like it's an emergency", says Governor Raphael Warnock.

"You can know you have a champion in Herschel walker", says Herschel Walker.

The stake could have been higher but democrats will remain in control of the senate regardless of what happens in the peach state. That hasn't stopped voter enthusiasm though with almost 2 million votes already in..

"Warnock is slightly ahead but I think there's a very real chance that tomorrow there will be a big surge", says former House speaker Newt Gingrich.

Democrats want a clear senate majority.

A Warnock win means the vice president can cast fewer tie-breaking votes. And that means less influence for senators Joe Manchin and Krysten Sinema, the democrats most likely to dissent.

"I feel really good about Warnock's chances", says a Georgia resident.

If Herschel Walker wins the g-o-p can stall democrat priorities like confirming judicial nominees.

" It gives Mitch McConnel a little more wiggle room, a little more leverage ", says Wall Street Journal congressional correspondent Natalie Andrews.

The democrats do seem to have the advantage though.

Warnock led walker in the general election by nearly 40-thousand votes.

Even after Brian Kemp, the state's Republican governor won handily.

"Herschel walker certainly had a series of bad headlines leading right up until the first election day and it has made some republicans a little uneasy", says Andrews.

For Democrats, this win could make it easier to pass legislation and confirm judges.

For Republicans, it could give them momentum heading into the 2024 election.
