Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) claims there's enough evidence to raise suspicions on Hunter Biden and justify an FBI investigation into the president's son.

The Texas senator was referring to a recently revealed email from Biden that appeared "unusual" for its "level of scholarship and erudition." So much so that it stands alone in the tone of emails from Biden.

BIDEN NOTEBOOKS FOUND IN FBI SEARCH MIGHT HAVE REFERENCED CLASSIFIED INFORMATION

"The obvious question is, what was he cutting and pasting from? What was his source? And it raises the natural inference that Hunter Biden had direct access to these classified documents," Cruz told Maria Bartiromo on Fox News's Sunday Morning Futures. "So I believe the natural next step that is necessary is for the FBI to examine the 1,850 plus boxes of documents from Joe Biden’s Senate tenure that’s at the University of Delaware. And I also believe it is critical for the FBI to search Hunter Biden’s homes — home and office residences — to make sure there are no classified documents there, given all the evidence that’s piling up."

In addition to documents, notebooks used by President Joe Biden during his time as vice president were among the items taken by the FBI during a search of one of his Delaware homes last week, according to a person familiar with the investigation. These notebooks, which Biden wrote in while serving as vice president under former President Barack Obama, were taken by the FBI due to some of the notes relating to his work as vice president, which could refer to classified information. His son Hunter also listed this home as his own home address in the past.

Cruz thought it was "baffling" that Biden had any classified documents from his senate tenure, as Cruz himself has seen various classified documents but only within the confines of a sensitive compartmented information facility.

Biden served in the senate for 36 years. Cruz has served for ten years so far.
