1 injured after fire ignites underground in southwest Baltimore

One person was injured after a fire ignited underground Thursday morning in southwest Baltimore, fire officials said. Firefighters were called around 10:30 a.m. to Frederick Avenue and Boswell Road, where they found an underground fire in a manhole. City officials said one person was injured, but the nature or seriousness of the person's injuries was not immediately reported. Preliminarily, fire officials said a contractor was working on a waterline when they hit a gas line, which resulted in a manhole cover being blown off.
