Land a great Cyber Monday discount on a new refrigerator to hold all your favorite holiday eats

By Daniel Wroclawski and Tobie Stanger

If you’re in the market for a new refrigerator this Cyber Monday, there’s some good news: Significant discounts on top-performing models are more common this year than they were last year, when manufacturers and retailers responded to supply-chain shortages and high demand by reducing holiday promotions. This year, manufacturers have been able to offer larger promotions, which retailers are passing on to consumers. You won’t see many of the 40-percent markdowns that were common before the pandemic, but there are still good deals to be had.

To help you score the best Cyber Monday refrigerator deals, we’ve combed through dozens of offerings from major retailers, including Appliances Connection, Best Buy, Costco, Home Depot, Lowe’s, and individual manufacturers.

Below are a few models that stand out in our rigorous lab tests and also offer good value. And for even more great deals, bookmark CR’s Deals hub for the latest.

We’ve organized our picks for the best Cyber Monday refrigerator deals by fridge configuration. CR members can click on each model name to see detailed ratings and reviews. For more top-performing options, refer to our refrigerator ratings or our collection of the best refrigerators of 2022.

Top-Freezer Refrigerators

Whirlpool WRT112CZJZ

© Provided by Consumer Reports

At just 24 inches wide, the counter-depth Whirlpool WRT112CZJZ is one of the smallest top-freezer models available, but it’s by far the best-performing option of any size. It rules in crucial cooling functions and for noise output, making it the quietest top-freezer we’ve tested. In surveys of our members, Whirlpool top-freezers rate very well for predicted reliability but not so much for owner satisfaction, a common combination among top-freezer brands.

Why it’s a good deal: At its regular price, it was already deemed by CR as a great value. At this discount level, it’s a no-brainer bargain.

Frigidaire FFHT1425VV

© Provided by Consumer Reports

The 28-inch, cabinet-depth Frigidaire FFHT1425VV is a great top-freezer, performance-wise, and an ace at energy efficiency. But it lacks many convenience features, and like many other top-freezers it’s not very easy to use. Frigidaire top-freezers receive top ratings for reliability but inferior satisfaction scores in our latest member survey.

Why it’s a good deal: Deep discounts add to the attractiveness of this already-affordable unit.

Whirlpool WRT313CZLZ

© Provided by Consumer Reports

The 24-wide Whirlpool WRT313CZLZ shines in key aspects of CR’s tests: thermostat control and temperature uniformity. It’s not particularly energy-efficient or quiet, though. It has some useful features—notably, touchpad controls and uniquely adjustable shelving. Still, as with other top-freezers, we found it’s not easy to use. Whirlpool top-freezers rate highly for predicted reliability but not nearly as well for owner satisfaction, a common combination among top-freezer brands.

Why it’s a good deal: The price fluctuates widely for this model at Home Depot but is currently at its lowest in recent months.

Whirlpool WRT518SZFM

© Provided by Consumer Reports

The stylish, 29-inch-wide Whirlpool WRT518SZFM is notable for its fine thermostat control and energy efficiency. However, we found its ice-making and crisper performance underwhelming. At 31 inches deep, this model has room for gallon storage on its door. Otherwise—like many top-freezer models—we didn’t find it easy to use. Whirlpool top-freezers receive high marks for predicted reliability but don’t do as well in owner satisfaction, a common combination among top-freezer brands.

Why it’s a good deal: This discount is among the best we’ve seen this season for any refrigerator.

Samsung RT21M6213SG

© Provided by Consumer Reports

The 33-inch-wide Samsung RT21M6213SG is an ace at energy efficiency, and performs respectably in thermostat control and noise. We weren’t impressed with its crisper, though. At 32 inches deep, this model has room for gallon storage on the door, and is moderately easy to use. That’s more than can be said for many top-freezer models. CR members give Samsung high ratings for predicted reliability among top-freezer refrigerators; its satisfaction score is middling.

Why it’s a good deal: Samsung is discounting a black stainless version of this model by 50 percent, and stainless steel and white versions by 10 and 13 percent, respectively.

Samsung RT18M6215SG

© Provided by Consumer Reports

The 29-inch-wide Samsung RT18M6215SG, the narrower cousin of the Samsung RT21M6213SG above, offers a bit less usable space than its rivals. But on the plus side, the unit will have more room to breathe in a cabinet. It’s a winner in our ratings, and one of the few top-freezers that we found relatively easy to use. Along with a few conventional features, this model offers an unusual but very useful one: a flexible freezer compartment that can be converted to a refrigerator at the touch of a button.

Why it’s a good deal: Samsung is discounting a black stainless version of this model by 39 percent, a white versions at 50 percent, and a traditional stainless version at 10 percent.

Maytag MRT311FFFM

© Provided by Consumer Reports

The 33-inch-wide Maytag MRT311FFFM earned kudos in several aspects of CR’s tests, including thermostat control, temperature uniformity, and energy efficiency. It’s deep enough to provide gallon-storage on its door and has touchpad controls, but it lacks other features. This model comes in stainless steel, monochromatic stainless steel, and white; discounts are currently available on all three (we highlight the white model above).

Why it’s a good deal: The price is at its lowest level in several months, according to the discount-tracking site Honey. and represents a respectable Black-Friday discount.

33-Inch-Wide French-Door Refrigerators

LG LRFCS25D3S

© Provided by Consumer Reports

The 33-inch-wide LG LRFCS25D3S earns kudos from CR on all aspects of its performance, but most notably for thermostat control and temperature uniformity. Its usable capacity for both refrigerator and freezer compartments is fairly generous. It has a built-in water filter for its ice-maker, touchpad controls, and is WiFi-enabled. But it’s short on some popular features, including a water dispenser, uniquely adjustable shelves, and a half-shelf for more storage flexibility. LG French-door refrigerators earn middling marks for predicted reliability, and above-average scores for owner satisfaction. (We expect this model to perform similarly to the tested LG LRFCS2503S although it may differ in price and features.)

Why it’s a good deal: The discount of about 29 percent from several retailers is higher than what appliance-industry analysts expect for most refrigerators this holiday season.

36-Inch-Wide French-Door Refrigerators

LG LRFVC2406S

© Provided by Consumer Reports

The sleek 36-inch-wide LG LRFVC2406S performs superbly in our tests and comes loaded with the features, including shelves that can be adjusted without moving the food on them, air and water filters, and a second icemaker (in addition to the one that dispenses through the door). It also includes a transparent door-in-door compartment. With all those bells and whistles, though, it’s not particularly energy-efficient. This model is similar to several other CR-tested models, including the LG SRFVC2406S and lower-priced LG LRFXC2416S, and we expect it to perform as well. LG French-doors also receive ratings of Good for predicted reliability and Very Good for owner satisfaction in our latest member survey.

Why it’s a good deal: Supplies appear to be limited for this stellar model, so this may be the time to jump if you want to buy it at these discounts. Depending on where you purchase the LRFVC2406S, you also may be eligible for LG’s Fill Your Fridge promotion, a $200 Visa prepaid gift card meant to be used toward food purchases (naturally, terms and conditions apply).

LG LRFXC2416D

© Provided by Consumer Reports

The 36-inch-wide LG LRFXC2416D is a lower-priced sibling to the LG LRFVC2406S above, with a black stainless steel finish. We expect it to offer similarly great performance and it has many of the same attractive features, including shelves that can be adjusted without moving the food on them, and air and water filters. Like its brandmate, though, it’s not particularly energy-efficient. LG French-doors also receive ratings of Good for predicted reliability and Very Good for owner satisfaction in our latest member survey.

Why it’s a good deal: The discounts are all in the fairly respectable range of about 13 to 21 percent, depending on the retailer. Depending on where you buy the LG LRFXC2416D, you also may be eligible for LG’s Fill Your Fridge promotion, a $200 Visa prepaid gift card meant to be used toward food purchases (naturally, terms and conditions apply).

LG SRFVC2406S

© Provided by Consumer Reports

The 36-inch-wide LG SRFVC2406S is a cousin to the LG LRFVC2406S, above, and we expect it to perform as admirably. Like that model, its sleek styling includes a transparent door-in-door window compartment, plus numerous other features, including shelves that can be adjusted without moving the food on them, air and water filters, and a second icemaker (in addition to the dispenser in the door). As with all the similar models in this group, energy efficiency is its only weak link. LG French-doors receive ratings of Good for predicted reliability and Very Good for owner satisfaction in our latest member survey.

Why it’s a good deal: The LG SRFVC2406S is on clearance at Best Buy for $946 off, and not available everywhere. So its 21 percent drop in price may be the best you can get for this high-performing model.

GE GFD28GYNFS

© Provided by Consumer Reports

The moderately priced, 36-inch-wide GE GFD28GYNFS is similar to the tested GE GFD28GSLSS and we expect it to perform similarly. That refrigerator was a strong performer, especially in the key areas of thermostat control and temperature uniformity. We also found it very easy to use; its numerous convenient features include an external water dispenser, a half shelf for more flexible storage, an icemaker, and a built-in water filter. What’s more, we found its total usable capacity in both the refrigerator and freezer compartments to be notably greater than comparable models. But it’s an energy hog. GE French-door refrigerators are rated Good for predicted reliability and owner satisfaction in our latest member survey.

Why it’s a good deal: At Best Buy’s 23 percent-off clearance price, this already competitively priced and full-featured unit is an even better value.

LG LRFDS3016S

© Provided by Consumer Reports

Like its slightly higher-rated LG brandmates, the 36-inch-wide LG LRFDS3016S comes through with flying colors in many of CR’s tests—especially thermostat control, temperature uniformity, and ease of use. It’s also more energy-efficient than many, though not quite as quiet. It’s among the most capacious of the LG refrigerators here, and it’s loaded with convenient features: shelves that can be adjusted without moving the food on them, half shelves, air and water filters, and touchpad controls. LG French-doors receive ratings of Good for predicted reliability and Very Good for owner satisfaction in our latest member survey.

Why it’s a good deal: This season, a 22 percent discount is nothing to sneer at. If you prefer a black steel look, several of the retailers above offer a similar discount on the same model with that finish. Depending on where you buy the LG LRFDS3016S, you also may be eligible for LG’s Fill Your Fridge promotion, a $200 Visa prepaid gift card meant to be used toward food purchases (naturally, terms and conditions apply).

Side-By-Side Refrigerators

Amana ASI2175GRS

© Provided by Consumer Reports

The stainless steel Amana ASI2175GRS is a solid refrigerator all-around, with notable performance in the key measures of thermostat control and temperature uniformity. Amana side-by-sides receive an above average rating for predicted reliability but a below average  rating for owner satisfaction. This 33-inch model is a bit light on features, but it has a through-the-door water/ice dispenser and digital controls.

Why it’s a good deal: This is the lowest price we’ve seen in recent months among several retailers.

LG LRSDS2706S

© Provided by Consumer Reports

The 36-inch-wide LG LRSDS2706S is a top-notch performer. This stainless steel model features an external water/ice dispenser, a built-in water filter, and touchpad controls. In our latest member survey, LG side-by-sides also earn decent ratings for reliability and owner satisfaction.

Why it’s a good deal: This is the lowest price in months among several retailers.

LG LHSXS2706S

© Provided by Consumer Reports

The 36-inch-wide, stainless steel LG LHSXS2706S is a winner in all CR’s performance tests. It’s also energy-efficient and low on noise. It has numerous useful features, including an external water dispenser, built-in water filter, touchpad controls, spill-proof shelves, and WiFi connectivity. However, it doesn’t have half-shelves or unique adjustable shelves for storage flexibility.  In our latest member survey, LG side-by-sides earn decent ratings for reliability and owner satisfaction.

Why it’s a good deal: During this year’s Black Friday sales, more than 20 percent off a refrigerator is a respectable discount.

GE GZS22IYNFS

© Provided by Consumer Reports

The 36-inch-wide, counter-depth GE GZS22IYNFS is a champ in key attributes we test, particularly thermostat control. Its crisper is less than stellar, though, and it’s not particularly quiet or energy-efficient. But its stainless-steel skin is fingerprint-proof, and it offers a few attractive features, including an external water dispenser, built-in water filter, and an alarm to alert when a door is open. GE side-by-side refrigerators receive above average scores for predicted reliability, though just mediocre scores for owner satisfaction.

Why it’s a good deal: So far this season, we’re not seeing other highly-rated counter-depth side-by-side models discounted as deeply.

Built-In Refrigerators

KitchenAid KBBR306ESS

© Provided by Consumer Reports

The 36-inch-wide KitchenAid KBBR306ESS bottom-freezer refrigerator has superb thermostat control and aces our noise tests. It’s easy to use and receives kudos in other characteristics, though it’s not terribly energy efficient. A passel of features help make this built-in easy to use.

Why it’s a good deal: Though 10 percent off is on the skimpy side for fridges during Black Friday sales, it’s the largest discount available right now among the built-in fridges that CR recommends.

KitchenAid KBFN502ESS

© Provided by Consumer Reports

The 42-inch-wide, French-door KitchenAid KBFN502ESS leads the pack in thermostat control, temperature uniformity, and low noise. This built-in model is loaded with features, though it lacks a water dispenser and uniquely adjustable shelves for more flexible storage. KitchenAid built-in refrigerators earn middling scores for predicted reliability and owner satisfaction.

Why it’s a good deal: As with its brand-mate above, this model is discounted just 10 percent discount. But this shopping season, that’s enough to make this well-rated model worth considering.
