Cone Health to close COVID-only hospital

It's been a long road for health care workers caring for patients at Cone Health's COVID-only hospital. The Green Valley campus will close after opening nearly a year ago in anticipation of surging COVID hospitalizations. Doctors, nurses, and other health professionals cared for more than 4,700 patients there. Now, Cone Health is turning the corner in the pandemic. Fewer people getting sick. Fewer people needing intensive care. The Green Valley campus, solely dedicated to caring for COVID patients, is no longer needed. But the fight isn't over. "It is not time to throw away the masks. While we are in a different situation from one year ago, we must continue to remain vigilant in all our efforts to prevent the spread of this dangerous disease,” Dr. Mary Jo Cagle, chief operating officer of Cone Health, said.
