$5M partial settlement announced in Anton Black police custody death case

The family of Anton Black announced Monday that it reached a partial settlement in the 2018 police in-custody death on the Eastern Shore. The lawsuit in federal court alleges the 19-year-old's death in police custody was discriminatory and unconstitutional. It also charges that the state medical examiner conspired with police to cover up the "wrongful actions by officers." It's a bittersweet partial victory for Black's family members, who vow their work is not finished. The family will receive $5 million in damages, and three police agencies have to overhaul their use-of-force policies.
