  • Apple rolled out iOS 14.4 beta 2 and iPadOS 14.4 beta 2 for developers on Wednesday.
  • This is the first iOS beta since the holidays, which is when Apple takes an extended break.
  • iOS 14 is a massive update packed with hundreds of new features that you can read about right here — some highlights include home screen widgets, new Compact UI features, an App Library with all of your installed apps, and the redesigned Messages app.

Nearly a month after the first iOS 14.4 beta rolled out to developers and then the public, Apple is back from its holiday break with a new beta release. iOS 14.4 brings a number of features and improvements to the mobile OS, but the big addition is the new Handoff experience for the HomePod mini.

The smaller, cheaper HomePod features Apple’s U1 chip which is equpped with Ultra Wideband technology, allowing for interactions that weren’t possible on the original HomePod. Apple also improved the Set Wallpaper action in the Shortcuts app. We aren’t sure what exactly the second beta does yet, but developers can grab it now.
