Iowa GOP Bill Relaxing Child Labor Laws Sparks Outrage
A new Iowa bill sponsored by Republican State Senator Jason Schulz would allow teenagers between 14 and 17 to work in hazardous jobs like mining, meatpacking and more when "participating in work-based learning or a school or employer-administered, work-related program." The bill would also allow teens to serve alcohol at younger ages and free businesses from civil liability for teen workers hurt on the job.
