Sinistea is a special Pokemon that players can find and catch in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. You'll need to catch this Pokemon, or defeat it, if you want to gather Sinistea Chips, and we've already shown you the best places to find this Pokemon if you're working towards gathering those resources.

But, what if you want to evolve Sinistea? Well, that's part of what makes this Pokemon so special. While some Pokemon require evolution items like the Dusk Stone, Sinistea requires you to have a certain type of Sinistea as well as a certain item to evolve it. And, based on the type of Sinistea you have, you may need to find a different item to be able to evolve it correctly. Here's what you need to know.

How to Evolve Sinistea in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

There are basically two forms of Sinistea that players can find and catch in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

The first is the antique variant. This variant has a small mark on the bottom of the Sinistea, showing that it's the "real" version of the Pokemon. There is also a second variant, though, known to many as the phony form. Depending on which form you have, you will need to find the Cracked Pot or Chipped Pot to evolve it.

If you have the antique form of Sinistea, then you'll need to find the Chipped Pot, which can only be found by bidding on it at the Porto Marinada auction. You'll need a lot of money if you plan to do this, so make sure you grab the Amulet Coin to increase how much money you make from trainer battles that you take part in.

If you have the phony form of the Sinistea, then evolving it will be much easier, as you can actually find the Cracked Pot in the Socarrat Trail, a sub-area around Cassoroya Lake, which is found in the northern section of Paldea. You can also purchase it from the Porto Marinada auction, though it will probably cost a pretty penny to get your hands on.

Once you have the Cracked Pot or the Chipped Pot, you'll simply need to give it to the Sinistea that you want to evolve. This will cause the Pokemon to trigger its evolution, turning into Polteageist. This will complete the Pokemon's evolutions and unlock all of its forms in your Pokedex.
