With most of the Final Fantasy 7 fan base waiting for any updates about Part 2 of the RPG's remake, Square Enix seems to be focusing on other endeavors. News has recently popped up online about the Japanese company filing a new trademark for Intergrade, which players know is the upgraded version of Final Fantasy 7 Remake for the PlayStation 5. However, Square Enix has also filed new trademarks for two titles that have not been announced by the company anywhere else yet.

It has been two years since Final Fantasy 7 Remake was released, and since then, Square Enix has been making clear efforts to keep player interest up. This can be seen through the title's PC release through the Epic Games Store and, later on, the launch of the PlayStation 5 Intergrade upgrade and Yuffie Kisaragi INTERmission DLC. Now, community excitement continues to grow, especially since Final Fantasy 7 is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, and Square Enix is likely looking to capitalize on the occasion.

According to a Japanese trademark website, Square Enix filed three new trademarks in May 2022. One is specifically for Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade, while two new trademarks have been filed for the titles "Labyrinth Striker" and "Final Bar Line." Not much information can be gleaned from the trademark filing as it does not indicate if a new video game will be coming out. However, the RPG's co-director Tetsuya Nomura shared that official Final Fantasy 7 Remake 25th anniversary updates should be expected by the community soon. This may indicate that the trademark filing is related to the upcoming announcements.

In regards to the "Labyrinth Striker" and "Final Bar Line" trademarks, Square Enix has not shared anything about these titles. However, this will not deter the gaming community from already sharing speculations about them. "Final Bar Line" may indicate a rhythm game, just like Melody of Memory from the Kingdom Hearts series. The title may allude to the phrase's meaning of being the last bar line in a music composition. For "Labyrinth Striker," not much has been guessed by the community, though the title does play interestingly on its Japanese characters, with the last character for "Labyrinth" also being the first character of "Striker."

Fans of Final Fantasy 7 will have to wait a bit longer until the official updates from Square Enix reveal everything to the community. Hopefully, the team offers big and exciting news, given that the fanbase has been waiting so long for the official timeframe and release of Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake is currently available on PC, PS4, and PS5.
