Stray launches this Tuesday (July 19) on PlayStation and PC, and to mark the occasion, Annapurna Interactive has teamed up with two cat charities who will be giving away copies of the game. Nebraska Humane Society in the US and Cats Protection in the UK have a number of copies of Stray to give away, and all you need to do is make a small donation or enter a contest to be in with a chance of bagging one for yourself.

As reported by NME, the Nebraska Humane Society has four codes to give away for the PS4 or PS5 version of Stray. All you need to do is make a $5 donation (or more if you can and you're feeling generous) to be entered into the draw to win one of those copies. Cats Protection has six copies to give away on both PlayStation and PC, and you don't need to make a donation at all if you don't want to. You can just enter through the charity's website and winners will be announced on July 22.

Even though the Cats Protection giveaway doesn't require a donation, the charity would like to hear from you, especially if you win one of its six copies. “Don’t forget to let us know if you plan to run a live stream and want to fundraise for Cats Protection – we’d love to hear from you,” the site reads. If you raise money for charities through streaming, doing so for a charity that helps stray cats while playing a game where you are a stray cat feels like too good an opportunity to pass up. Especially if that charity gives you the game for free.

If you don't win a copy of Stray through the above giveaways, don't despair. You don't even need to buy a copy if you want to play it on launch day. Even though PlayStation claimed adding games to its revamped PS Plus at launched Game Pass-style wasn't feasible, if you have an Extra or Premium subscription, Stray will be available to play at no extra cost from tomorrow.

If you're still on the fence about Stray, perhaps meeting the cat on which its unnamed main character was based will sway you. BlueTwelve introduced the world to Murtaugh last week, the feline that inspired the game.
