Verizon is giving away new devices for customers currently using its old 3G devices.

CNBC reported customers who are using Verizon’s 3G devices will receive basic flip phones similar to their old devices but that can be used on the its newer 4G mobile network.

Major mobile carriers like Verizon, AT&T and Sprint are shutting down their existing 3G networks, which rely on older technology, to make way for more advanced services such as 5G. The move away from 3G frees up network frequencies for faster services but also means many older cell phones will be unable to make or receive calls and texts, including calls to 911, or use data services.

Verizon plans to shut down its 3G network by the end of the year.

According to the Verizon website, customers can receive the Orbic Journey V, TCL FLIP Pro or Nokia 2720 V Flip. Each is priced at about $80 and has one or two-star customer reviews, CNBC reported.

The new devices will be sent to people who haven’t yet upgraded to a 4G LTE phone. Existing plans and contracts will remain the same and the company will automatically active the new devices if a customer doesn’t do so.

Customers will be asked to drop off their old phones at a Verizon location.
