A big rig was involved in a mishap with a freight train in Fresno Wednesday morning.

The incident happened around 8:30 a.m. at the train tracks that cross Maple Ave. between Jensen and Annadale Avenues.

The track is a sideline used to load and unload at warehouses in the area so the train was not going very fast when the two made contact.

The track is not controlled by crossing arms.

CHP says the train crew placed flares in the roadway because dense fog reduced visibility under 200 feet, but the driver of the truck was unable to avoid hitting the train.

The truck pulling two trailers was blocking the southbound lanes of Maple and the train was blocking both directions.

The train moved off the roadway around 9:30 a.m. and a large tow truck was preparing to remove the big rig.

There were no injuries.
