From Harleys to highlighters and from bikes to binders, the pairs bonded over blue and black pens and what was beyond the leather vests and sneakers. The goal of getting them ready to meet their new teachers.

Gerry Rothman is the president of the Blue Angels Motorcycle Club and a long-time veteran of the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Department. He reflected on the heartwarming event saying, "This is really special for us because what we do is a fundraiser for the law enforcement memorial ride, which is for officers that have fallen and we raise money to give back to the community."

From that fund, the Blue Angels gifted each teen a $140 tab. John Horowitz is a Blue Angel and a member of the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Department. He said of the event, "It's giving them the tools that they need to get a good education."

The tools and the threads like plain collared shirts were piled up by 14-year-old Amos Pierre, who said, "Keep it professional, nothing too silly."

A motto he learned at The Boys And Girls Club of St. Lucie County. He went on to say, "I feel great because most people don't have this opportunity."

A partner in the event and CEO of the local chapter of The Boys and Girls Club, Will Armstead beamed with pride over Pierre's picks.

"When I hear what you just said, I'm like, 'Yes, we did it ... of all the things he could've gotten ... he could have gotten a lot of things,'" Armstead said.
