Celebrate Fourth of July in and around Houston at these events

Pull out your most patriotic outfit and get the hot dogs ready. Fourth of July is upon us once again. 

Even if Houston might not be the best place to celebrate Independence Day, apparently, we still know have a good time. Plus, there's a whole weekend to celebrate this year since the holiday falls on a Sunday.

HOUSTON HISTORY: Battleship Texas will open one last time before leaving Houston 

Here are some of the events happening in and around Houston where you can see fireworks and ring in America's birthday. 

Shell Freedom Over Texas in Houston

While the festival is postponed until next year, fireworks will still be visible across the city and ABC 13 will host a televised concert. Lee Brice, Jimmie Allen, Alanis Sophia, and Brian Jack and the Zydeco Gamblers are set to perform for the annual Freedom Over Texas celebration. The city is recommending watching the fireworks from open spaces and neighborhood parks with a view of the western downtown skyline. 

Houston, July 4, 7-10 p.m. 

Red, White & Boom in Sugar Land

Head to Sugar Land's Crown Festival Park for patriotic photo opportunities, vendor booths, food and live music and entertainment before the fireworks start around 9 p.m. Want to view the fireworks from home? The show will be live-streamed on the Sugar Land Parks Facebook page

Sugar Land, 7-10 p.m. 

Red, Hot & Blue Festival in The Woodlands

The Woodlands is hosting its annual festival across five locations with food, live music and entertainment, children's activities and more before culminating in a fireworks show at 9:30 p.m. If you want to celebrate a little early, catch the 1.3-mile parade on July 3.

CHEERS: Beer, wine purchases will soon start at 10 a.m. on Sundays 

Independence Day Parade & Fireworks Celebration in Galveston

Craving a beach day? Head to Galveston's Seawall Boulevard after a day in the sun for the city's Fourth of July parade with fireworks to immediately follow. 

Galveston, July 4, 7 p.m. 

Celebration of Freedom in Pearland

Pearland is celebrating the Fourth of July in the aptly named Independence Park, where variety band Breakfast at Tiffany's will perform before a fireworks show. 

Pearland, July 4, 6-10 p.m.

Freedom Celebration Fireworks in Katy

Katy won't have its daytime celebration this year, but fireworks are still happening at Katy Mills Mall/Typhoon Texas.

Katy, July 4, 9 p.m. 

MCTX Independence Day Festival in Missouri City

Fill the whole weekend with Fourth of July fun in Missouri City during its celebration on July 3. Live music, entertainment, food and festivities are happening behind HCC Southwest College Campus before a fireworks show.
