Central NY bus monitor dies following school bus, pickup crash
New Haven, N.Y. — A school bus monitor has died after she suffered head injuries when a bus and a pickup truck collided in Oswego County, state police said.
Theresa A. Steele, 63, died from her injuries at Upstate University Hospital last night, said Trooper Jack Keller, a state police spokesman.
Officers responded to the crash at the intersection of County Route 1 and County Route 6 in town of New Haven around 6:39 a.m. Wednesday.
The Mexico Academy Central School District bus and the pickup crashed after the driver of the bus, Mark T. Vosseller, 69, of Fulton, failed to stop at a stop sign, troopers said.
He was ticketed for failing to stop, Keller said.
No students were on the bus, he said.
The driver of the 2022 Dodge pickup, Jonathan H. Duval, 45, of Mexico, was treated at Upstate and has been released, Keller said.
Keller said there is no indication of intoxication, but the investigation is ongoing.
