Child Drowns At Lake Elsinore Beach; 2nd Child Rescued By Bystander
LAKE ELSINORE, CA — A child drowned in Lake Elsinore over the weekend, and a second had to be rescued by a bystander.
Deputies with the Riverside County Sheriff's Office were called around 10:30 a.m. Sunday for a possible drowning at Launch Pointe Beach.
Several children were playing near the docks on the beach and two began having trouble swimming. A bystander brought one child ashore and the other went underwater. The second child never resurfaced.

Several bystanders searched the water and deputies established an area where the child was last seen.
About four hours later, a dive team with the sheriff's office found the child's body.
The name of the youth wasn't immediately released. Authorities told multiple media outlets the child was a 9-year-old boy.
Family members saw him struggling in the water and tried to help him before he went under, KCBS-TV reported.
