In past years, scouts from across the Conejo Valley spent the Saturday morning before Memorial Day setting flags for veterans at Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks Memorial Park.

This year was a little different.

With concerns about the coronavirus, organizers of the Conejo Valley Memorial Day Flag ceremony made the event more of a family affair. Rather than one day of scouts, 144 families of scouts from the Tierra Rejada District signed up to place flags over three days, starting Thursday.

The outcome was the same.

Flags festooned the Westlake Village cemetery to pay homage to the men and women who served in the U.S. military.
