Congress grills TikTok CEO
TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew appeared before members of Congress to address lawmakers’ concerns on whether the popular video app represents a national security threat because it is owned by Beijing-based parent company ByteDance. Chew faced an especially combative grilling, as lawmakers from both parties appeared united in their distrust of the CEO and concerns about the company’s ties to China.
