The California Court of Appeals on Friday issued a stay on construction that temporarily halts UC Berkeley's plans to build 1,000 units, KTVU reports.
BERKELEY, CA — Opponents of plans to build housing at Berkeley’s historic People’s Park scored a legal victory last week.
The California Court of Appeals on Friday issued a stay on construction that temporarily halts UC Berkeley's plans to build 1,000 units, KTVU reports.
"All construction, demolition, tree clearing, or other landscape alteration activities at People's Park in Berkeley, California, are temporarily stayed," the court ruling said, according to the report.
The park where protests were held in the 1960s was recently named to the National Register of Historic Places, according to the report.
The court issued the stay amid ongoing litigation that aims to halt the development, the report said.
