Several crews spent part of Monday putting out the flames after a fire sparked at a home in Russell County, Virginia.

Crews got the call just before noon and responded to the area of Breezers Branch and John Simms Hill Road.

Emergency officials said two people were inside the home. The two woke up to the smell of smoke and were able to get out of the home. One person sustained a leg injury.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Jess Powers with Russell County Emergency Management said this was the 32nd fire of the year in the county. Last year, only four were recorded.
