MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - If this weekend's sled dog races had you begging for more, the Marquette Arts and Culture Center's third annual Dog Dayz of Winter Art Show was the place to sit and stay.

The sled dog and winter-themed show in the lower level of the Peter White Public Library featured the work of local elementary, middle school and home-school artists.

Students proudly showed off their artwork to their parents and grandparents. Each child also selected one of a vast array of artistic prizes to encourage kids to keep making art at home.

Meanwhile, attendees also created their own impromptu masterpieces using chalk and pastels.

Susan Roubal, Board Member on the Lake Superior Art Association says it's all about finding what works for you.

“You learn you have to tame the critic within and sometimes just enjoy what you're doing. And that's what we saw today with the kids. They all were having a great time. So it's never too late or too early to pick up something and create artwork,” Roubal asserted.

The exhibit is free and open to the public. It will be up through the end of the month. So feel free to drop in to PWPL and check it out.
