FORT HOOD, Texas - The family of a Fort Hood soldier is suing the Army over his death.

Sergeant Elder Neves Fernandes was found dead by suicide in August of 2020, just 8 days after he was discharged from an army medical center.

According to Fernandes’ family, Army Medical Staff knew he had suicidal thoughts and didn't give him any supervision or treatment after his discharge. They've now filed a $25 million medical malpractice claim. The military is investigating.
