Small fires intentionally set in basement of UO residence hall, firefighters say
EUGENE, Ore. - Firefighters responded to Hamilton Hall early Thursday morning and put out several small fires in the basement of the University of Oregon residence hall.
The investigation found the fires were intentionally set.
Dispatch logs show multiple units responded to 1365 Agate St. in Eugene shortly after 1 a.m. December 9.
Crews were on scene for several hours conducting a search of the building for any additional fires.
"The fires were in a contained area and did not spread or cause significant damage," according to Eugene Springfield Fire. "Students evacuated the building following the fire alarms and no injuries have been reported."
The Fire Marshal determined thee fires were set intentionally.
The University of Oregon Police Department is investigating.
