Nothing good happens at 2 a.m., but only in Florida can that also refer to alligators.

A Fort Myers family called police after they spotted someone — err, something — breaking and entering early Friday morning.

Turns out an alligator meauring about 8 feet long had torn through the family's lanai screen and was camped out on the back porch, according to the Fort Myers Police Department.

FMPD officers were dispatched to the home in the Somerset at the Plantation gated community early Friday morning after they received the call.

The gator was captured by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and will be relocated, FMPD said.
