If you’re working from home, social distancing, or homeschooling your kiddos during the pandemic, time alone may be sparse, and time together might be even more so.

Take advantage of cooler temperatures, support local businesses and set aside some time for a date night with these socially distanced ideas.

Try a picnic and bring food from local restaurants

Take advantage of cooler temperatures this fall and go for a picnic. Grapevine has tons of parks to choose from, or you can watch planes land at DFW Founders' Plaza (1700 N Airfield Drive).

Pack a meal with food from one of Grapevine’s locally owned restaurants. A sandwich from Weinberger’s Deli (601 S. Main St. Suite 100) is an easy-to-eat option, and you’ll be supporting a local business in the process.

Go to a show or listen to live music

If you’re looking for dinner and a show, and feel comfortable sitting at socially distanced tables inside a restaurant, try the Texas Star Dinner Theater. For safety during the pandemic, actors wear clear masks and interact with the audience minimally. Tables will be placed six feet apart, and the facility is running at 50% capacity, according to their website.

With performances every Friday and Saturday night, the current show is “Herd 'Em Through the Grapevine” and runs through Nov. 14. Tickets are $60.

If you’re wary of indoor performances during the pandemic, try the outdoor concerts in downtown Grapevine this month or check out the new Hotel Vin’s calendar of events on Facebook to see which artists they have lined up.

A good, old-fashioned dinner date

You can’t talk about date nights in Grapevine without mentioning the city’s numerous wineries. Farina’s Winery and Cafe has a patio, and indoor dining options. From baked lasagna to filet mignon, you can treat yourself to a meal you didn’t have to make yourself. Reservations can be made by calling 817-442-9095.

If you’d like to dine out, but feel safest on a patio, take a look at our list of restaurants with patios in Grapevine for other date-night options.

Go all out with a weekend away(ish)

If you want to escape, but don’t want to go too far, try a weekend staycation at one of Grapevine’s numerous hotels. There’s the recently opened Hotel Vin, with on-site restaurants and frequent outdoor concerts. It’s placement in Downtown Grapevine makes it great for a weekend of wandering the town square, visiting the shops, and dining at the city’s restaurants.

The Gaylord Texan, also in Grapevine, is another option with a spa, multiple restaurants, and plenty of options for a relaxing weekend away.
