A big change is coming to Giant Eagle: Their weekly ad will no longer be delivered in the mail.

The ad, which lets shoppers know about sale items and other deals at Giant Eagle stores, is going digital.

The change will begin March 2, according to a notice in Giant Eagle's current weekly ad.

Shoppers who create a digital account can get their weekly deals sent to their inbox.

For those who prefer paper, Giant Eagle says printed copies of the weekly ad will be available in stores.

Pittsburgh's Action News 4 found some people who said using the Giant Eagle mobile app will work just fine for their lifestyle, but others want the ads to be sent in the mail.

Nadirah Johnson said, "They are like, let's be digital, but that means I'm going to have to help my grandma out and have to remember to grab the magazines on my way out."

Two teenagers said they have grown up in a tech-savvy world, so they like getting the weekly ads sent straight to their homes.

Chavi Beck said, "It's nice to get physical copies of things in the mail. I get so excited when I see things and they come to your door and you can open a mailbox, and going through the papers and all that stuff. So it's kind of disappointing it's not going to be there anymore."

"Just coming to your house, to look at something that's not on a phone screen or computer screen," Tahara Reinhertz said.

A spokesperson for Giant Eagle released the following statement to Pittsburgh's Action News 4 on Thursday:

"At Giant Eagle, we are actively evolving alongside our guests to meet their unique interests with personalized savings opportunities. An important part of this journey is our continued shift to an enhanced digital shopping experience where personalization can be more easily achieved. Beginning on March 2, 2023, Giant Eagle will transition away from the direct household delivery of its weekly print ad in the Pittsburgh area. Giant Eagle guests will be able to access the weekly ad by downloading the Giant Eagle mobile app which also enables guests to place grocery orders for curbside pickup or delivery, clip digital coupons, build shopping lists, and manage their available Perks. Printed weekly ads will continue to be available in all Giant Eagle and Market District locations for any guest who may prefer a paper copy."
