A historic building in Red Bluff is getting new life.

The Kraft building on Jefferson Street was the first public library in Tehama County, originally opening in 1909. In just a few weeks, after a slight remodel, it will become a featured event destination.

The Kraft building was a gift from widow Elizabeth Kraft to her late husband Herbert, and it mostly recently was the "House of Design."

The building's owners allowed Ariana Moyo, a 26-year-old Design major at Chico State, to lead the charge in this remodel. Moyo, a Sacramento native, loves the aesthetics and rich history of the site; she believes it can serve a greater purpose in Red Bluff.

"We are opening up this building as a wedding and event venue, and we are hoping that this building can serve the public and that people can have memories here that can last for a lifetime," Moyo told KRCR on Wednesday.

When asked what made her think of turning the Kraft into a wedding spot, Moyo, the "Creative Coordinator" for the building, said it was obvious.

"To be honest, this building just kind of screams event venue, from its architecture to its charm... this has been an amazing building and I’m sure Elizabeth Kraft would want it to continue to serve the community."

Dubbed the Kraft's "3rd Act," the venue, when it’s all said and done, will hold up to 200 people.

Moyo told KRCR she’s been charmed by the people of Red Bluff, and the response to her vision has been positive.

The official ribbon cutting for the Kraft's 3rd Act is Thursday, July 14, starting at 3 p.m. and ending at 8:30 p.m. All are welcome to attend.
