"First thing we do as towers is look at the weather at night, and look at the weather first thing in the morning," said Evert Martinez, transport manager.

The weather has been causing problems for Kansas City drivers all day on Monday.

"Definitely worse than last week--the bitter cold is not helping," Martinez said.

Staff with towing company All City Tow Service said on Monday they received over 300 calls for pulled over cars and hundreds more for larger vehicles.

"The roads are just real slick, the bridges, the exits, the on-ramps. It just makes it real hard even on us when we're on the side of the road," Martinez said.

All City Tow says they've picked up cars in accidents, broken windshields, and flat tires.

They say this winter season is the worst they've ever seen.

"We try to get to them as soon as we can, and safely and get them off the road safe," Martinez said.

If you need to pull over while driving and need assistance, All City Tow says the best thing to do is sit and wait.

"Safest thing to do is stay in your vehicle if you break down--try to pull over as far as you can on the road. When you see flashing lights just please slow down and move over," Martinez said.

All City Tow says the cold is harder on bigger vehicles, such as semitrucks, because diesel fuel can turn into a gel in weather like this.
