Agriculture is the number one industry in the Lebanon Valley, and a new children’s book celebrates the rich history and culture this industry has brought to the region.

‘The Adventures of Lebanon Lilly’ children’s book pays homage to farmers, roadside stands, farmers’ markets, fresh produce and specialty foods, such as Lebanon Bologna and Opera Fudge, that originated in the Lebanon Valley, according to a press release.

“The Lebanon Lilly book is a simple way to pass on our values and pride of the Lebanon Valley and the importance of our farmers, from one generation to the next,” author of the book Jennifer Kuzo said.

To celebrate the release of the book, Visit Lebanon Valley, an organization that markets the Lebanon Valley area, will host “Lebanon Lilly’s Birthday Party” at Patches Family Creamery from 3-5 p.m. on Thursday, May 19.

Partygoers can visit with barnyard animals, get pictures taken with Lilly, hear the story of Lebanon Lilly and enjoy fresh-made ice cream.

Tickets for a free scoop of ice cream will be given to the first 200 children, while supplies last.

Patches Family Creamery is located at 201 Fonderwhite Road, Lebanon. For more information about the party or Lebanon Lilly go to visitlebanonvalley.com/lebanon-lilly.
